1582. Sale of land in Heath by John Clay of Glapwell. (Derbyshire Record Office Ref.- N/1/T10).

1583. Aug. 6th. Conveyance by John Clay of Glapwell yeoman of Grimes Meadow in Heath which he acquired from James Hardwick to John Bacon. DRO.- NCB/H/NOW/2/5).

1619/20. Heath. Alexander Clay and 2 others to Mr Tuke.- Smootes Cottage for 21 years. (Ref.- Hardwick Hall Muniment Register Box 225.Chatsworth). P. Riden.

1654/55. March 15th. John Clay married Barbara Smith. St Peters. Nottingham. - (Possibly Barbara daughter of William Smith baptised at Gotham. Notts 25th. 1631.).

1656. Poll Tax. William Clay of Heath. (Derbyshire Record Office .- Chandes Pole Gell).

1669. Edward Clay of Heath owes 11 shillings in Inventory of Thomas Wilson of North Wingfield. (Lichfield Record Office).

1675. Lease made to Barbara Clay widow of a tenement in Heath with the crofts and yards. The Now Close, The Intake, The Church Close, The East Close, The Healds, The Well Meadow, The Wooked Sawell, The Little Cockshut, The Rye Stubbings, The Konytree, The Well Ridding, The Priestcroft, The Rye Close together with 3 cottages containing 87 acres in consideration of £30 + paying 30s yearly rent. (Chatsworth Archives).

1698. Mrs Barbara Clay presented Heath Church with a silver chalice with the Clay coat of arms engraved upon it. (Item still held by church - see photo section).

1745. August 22nd. John Clay of Heath is a creditor of Joseph Alwood. (DRO Ref.- D37M/T715).

1828. Feb.23rd. James Clay married Mary Sleney at Heath. (Newspaper Report - Chesterfield Gazzette).

1856. April 8th. George Clay age 13 died at Heath Colliery by falling down the shaft. (Ref.- Alan Beales Database of Fatalities in the Coal Fields).

1899. March. Derbyshire Times newspaper.- Wanted -Young man to look after horses and do general work on farm. - Apply W. Clay. Timber Lane. Heath. (Newspaper advertisement).
